Walmart denies Litecoin deal, says press release was fake

Posted on 2021-09-14 By admin No Comments on Walmart denies Litecoin deal, says press release was fake

In an interesting turn of events (certainly for crypto traders), retailing giant Walmart has announced that the press release made via popular PR website GlobeNewswire that the company was going to accept Litecoin as payment, was not authentic.

The initial press release about a Walmart-Litecoin hookup which was picked up by several leading news outlets including CNBC (and this publication) sent Litecoin prices soaring by as much as 21%.

However the Walmart clarification understandably took the wind out of those sails quickly, with LTC now down about 2% from weekend trading levels sitting as of the time of writing at $181.
