The London Metal Exchange (LME) has announced the passing of former LME Chairman, Sir Brian Bender KCB.
Sir Brian was the LME Chairman from 2010 until his retirement in 2019. He steered the LME through a transformative period leading up to and following its acquisition by HKEX Group in 2012.
The LME announcement says:
“It is with great sadness that the Exchange has to inform the membership and wider LME community that the LME’s former Chairman, Sir Brian Bender KCB, has died.
Sir Brian was the LME Chairman from 2010 until his retirement in 2019. He steered the LME through a transformative period leading up to and following its acquisition by HKEX Group in 2012.
Sir Brian was a calm and measured leader, and greatly respected by those who knew him. More than that, he was a wonderful mentor and friend to many at the Exchange, and he will be greatly missed. The LME sends its sincere condolences to Sir Brian’s wife and two children and will be donating to the MND Association in his memory.
